The London Eye

View from the London Eye

They say that eyes are the window into the soul and in this case the London eye provides the perfect vantage point to gaze at the heart and soul of London city.

A captivating bird’s eye view of London from a 135 metre tall observation wheel (Europe’s tallest), the London eye is a spectacular centrepiece of British ingenuity that takes your senses for a spin. On a clear day, you can see up to 40 kilometres in all directions from your capsule. Be sure to prepare on the ground, take and eat what you need, as the only way is up.

Situated on the banks of the Thames River and overlooking some of London’s most iconic landmarks, the London Eye’s prime location already offers you a breathtaking visual experience from the get go. However, being elevated gradually to give you the best views of London from the sky is an experience like no other.

All the hype of the 3D experience seen in the cinemas is nothing compared to the 4D extravaganza that will happen even before you get off the ground. Sit in and watch a short 3D movie about London and its iconic eye. But this is no ordinary movie presentation because this new addition to the London Eye experience provides in-theatre effects such as wind and even snow to add another layer to an already amazing moment.

If your senses are not yet satiated, then perhaps you should visit it during New Year’s Eve. Now I’m quite aware that the New Year has just passed and to think too far into the future is a little presumptuous to say the least, however, quite like how Sydney’s Harbour Bridge is the showpiece in Sydney’s New Year celebrations, the London Eye is the centrepiece of the London festivities. Be in the thick of New Year celebrations, when the countdown begins, the fireworks go off, and that little New Year’s kiss adds a touch of good luck to reign in 2012.

The London Eye is one of the premier attractions of London and hopefully by the time you leave this city you would have already fallen in love.
