Brand new luxury ocean cruise ships will be sailing into the Viking Ocean Cruises fleet over the coming years after the company signed an agreement for the construction of two ships with building group, Fincantieri.
The Memorandum of Understanding signed this week will see the two 998 passenger hosting ships ready for delivery by late 2014 and late 2015.
The agreement also includes the option for a third vessel to be constructed.
“We started Viking River Cruises to offer great destination experiences, and we are excited to bring this same destination focus back to ocean cruising,” Viking chairman Torstein Hagen said.“The ship designed by Fincantieri has a fresh and innovative design well suited to deliver the award-winning Viking experience.”
