LAN Airlines affiliate LAN Peru inaugurated their new Maintenance hangar at Lima’s Jorge Chavez International Airport today to support the growth of the airlines operations in Peru with an investment of close to $10 million dollars.
The opening ceremony took place in the new hangar and included the participation of various key influencers from the aviation and transport industry as well as key executives from the Company.
The new modern hangar incorporates the latest aircraft maintenance technology and places Peru among the countries that are at the forefront of this field in the region.
The new LAN Peru maintenance hangar spans 145,312 square feet with 32,292 square feet of offices, 96,875 square feet of platforms and 16,146 square feet of workshops, for the maintenance of Airbus A320 family (including the Airbus A319) and Boeing 767 aircraft. LAN Peru trained 300 Peruvian mechanics to service the facility."This project is an example of the commitment and confidence that LAN Peru has in the development and growth of the country,” said Jorge Vilches, General Manager, LAN Peru. “The new maintenance hangar joins the $660 million investment announced last year for the purchase of eight new aircraft for the LAN Peru fleet and the $50 million that is to be invested over the next five years in the training of Peruvian pilots, crews and mechanics at our new Technical Instruction Center (CIT) which will open in the second half of this year."
