Donation to support the educational and developmental needs of underprivileged children

Serviced residence owner-operator The Ascott Limited has donated 250,000 baht to the Thai Red Cross Children’s Home. The Home, which is located in Nakornpatom province, takes care of children who have been abandoned at the Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Queen Sawangvatana Memorial Hospital and other Thai Red Cross agencies. Ascott’s donation will go towards supporting the educational and developmental needs of these underprivileged children.

Ascott has raised the sum of 250,000 baht through the sale of limited edition Christmas key cards at its eight serviced residences in Bangkok – Ascott Sathorn, Citadines Sukhumvit 8, Citadines Sukhumvit 11, Citadines Sukhumvit 16, Citadines Sukhumvit 23, Somerset Lake Point, Somerset Park Suanplu and Somerset Sukhumvit Thonglor – in December 2011.

Mr Valter Narminio, Ascott’s Area Manager for Thailand, said: “Ascott believes in giving back to the local communities. We have embarked on a number of initiatives in countries where we operate to support the educational, healthcare and shelter needs of underprivileged children. It is always heartwarming to see the happy faces of these children. We hope to be able to improve their lives through our small contribution.”

Besides the donation, Ascott’s staff visited the Thai Red Cross Children’s Home and spent time with the children, playing games and planting vegetables in their garden. Ascott’s staff also presented the children with gifts such as school bags, educational books, stationeries, toys, a playground set and snacks.

Mr Wanchai Butdama, Director of the Thai Red Cross Children’s Home, said: “On behalf of the Thai Red Cross Foundation and all the children at the Thai Red Cross Children’s Home, I would like to thank Ascott for their donation and gifts. Their generosity will provide these children with hopes for a better future.”
