Volcanoes and Natural Trails
To the South of Manila, but still within driving distance by car, Tagaytay is a city overlooking the mystical Taal Volcano. Tagaytay is well-loved by Manila locals for its cooler climate, charming bed and breakfasts, and culinary finds.
If you prefer horsing around on terra firma, the El Kabayo Equestrian Center in the Binictican area of Subic Bay Freeport offers a wide range of equestrian activities. The centre also offers traditional trail rides – the most popular being a one-hour ride into the jungle to the Kabayo Falls and back.

Surfers prefer to head east of the island of Luzon– again within driving distance of the capital – to the secret surfer’s paradise of Baler, Aurora, one of the most unique surfing spots in the Philippines.
