Cebu Pacific’s Guide to Central and Southern Luzon

As Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) expands its connectivity from the cities of Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Hong Kong and Macau, there are more opportunities than ever before for travellers to discover fun in the Philippines through its capital, Manila. This exciting and bustling city, however, is a mere gateway to the rest of the delights in the island of Luzon. With incredible natural beauty, and unparalleled diversity, all within driving distance from the capital, there is something for everyone to enjoy!

Here is CEB’s guide to Central and Southern Luzon, where the cultural delights, spectacular natural beauty, and warm welcome, can offer travellers the holiday of a lifetime.

Volcanoes and Natural Trails
Thrill-seekers will enjoy the world-famous Mt. Pinatubo volcano that came to the world stage when it erupted in 1991. It is near Clark or a mere 1-2 hours of driving from Manila. Tourists are drawn to the majestic summit, with its jarring landscapes and dramatic canyons. Among the many activities available in the area are kayaking and swimming in its jewel-blue crater lake, trekking or riding 4×4 vehicles to the summit, and relaxing in the spa located at the crater.

To the South of Manila, but still within driving distance by car, Tagaytay is a city overlooking the mystical Taal Volcano. Tagaytay is well-loved by Manila locals for its cooler climate, charming bed and breakfasts, and culinary finds.

Animal Adventures
Those wishing for a brief escape from urban jungles and city rush hour can get closer to a real-life jungle thanks to CEB flights to Manila or Clark. The Zoobic Safari Adventure Park located inside the Subic Bay Freeport Zone offers close encounters with the Zoobic tigers (up to 2 feet away!), a tiger safari and a petting zoo for the kids. The nearby Ocean Adventure Theme Park offers you the chance to go swimming with dolphins and get up close with these friendly creatures!

If you prefer horsing around on terra firma, the El Kabayo Equestrian Center in the Binictican area of Subic Bay Freeport offers a wide range of equestrian activities. The centre also offers traditional trail rides – the most popular being a one-hour ride into the jungle to the Kabayo Falls and back.

The Aquatic Life
It’s now easier than ever to go surfing or scuba diving in the Philippines, thanks to direct flights to Manila! The diving at Anilao Marine Sanctuary is world-class, and its close proximity to Manila makes it accessible for weekend escapes to relax, and explore the diverse marine life. With some of the best macro photography attractions in the world, it’s no wonder that divers put Anilao on top of their to-do lists when they arrive in the Philippines.

Surfers prefer to head east of the island of Luzon– again within driving distance of the capital – to the secret surfer’s paradise of Baler, Aurora, one of the most unique surfing spots in the Philippines. Flush against the Pacific Ocean, the powerful waves and azure waters are an irresistible draw to surfers in the know.

Live Like a Millionaire!
There’s no better place to experience life like a millionaire than Subic Bay. With flights to Manila or Clark, travellers are within driving distance of their own private yacht – or, at least a chartered one!

Subic Bay is well known for sailing and yachting, and renting a yacht for a few hours is a great way to explore the natural harbor, and it’s cheaper than one might think! Everything from a simple yacht to a deluxe cruiser, is available, and the best gourmet restaurants can cater to guests for the ultimate “millionaire experience” aboard!

Manila is also home to most world-class hotel chains and a veritable treasure trove of restaurants that can please any gourmand. There is also a wide array of luxurious spas in Manila, so get ready for some pampering to round off the experience!

The number one airline in the Philippines, CEB flies to Manila daily from Shanghai; Thrice weekly from Guangzhou and from Xiamen; and four times weekly from Beijing. CEB also operates more than six times daily flights from Hong Kong to Cebu, Clark, Kalibo and Manila, as well as daily flights from Macau to Manila and thrice weekly flights from Macau to Clark.
