The Fijian Government remains keen to acquire Qantas’ 46 percent stake in Air Pacific, as Fiji tourism minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum confirmed, but only at the "right price".
In an ongoing battle with Qantas over shareholding, Mr Sayed-Khaiyum released ‘strictly private and confidential’ papers detailing correspondence from Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce.
At a media conference in Suva earlier this week, the tourism minister reiterated Air Pacific’s commitment to negotiating a sale price in a fair and transparent manner.
The proposed sale of shares rather than a formal offer, according to Mr Sayed- was "Qantas being cute".
Qantas offer of $75 million for its stake in May 2010 is being disputed by Fiji’s government, however according to the correspondence, Qantas’ position on the sale remains unchanged.
