The 7th ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference and Exhibition, kicks off today in Singapore. Hosted by Changi Airport Group, it is attended by about 400 participants, comprising senior executives and industry leaders from global airports, airlines and aviation business partners.
The ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, Conference and Exhibition is an annual event hosted by member airports with a high level representation from the aviation industry. The event serves as an effective platform for airports, airlines and governments to share and exchange ideas with one another.
This year’s conference, held from May 22 – 25, 2012 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore is themed “Transforming Airports: Innovation & Opportunities” and will feature four sessions to share with participants the trends of the aviation industry and help participants develop strategies to cater for growth:
· Understanding Airlines of the Future
In addition, a CEO and Leaders’ Forum where a panel of aviation chiefs, from various regions of the world, will be invited to share on the common aviation issues and challenges faced by the respective countries. Panel members include Mr Lee Seow Hiang, Chief Executive Officer of Changi Airport Group, Ms Angela Gittens, Director General of ACI, and Ms Kerrie Mather, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Sydney Airport Corporation Limited.
Tan Sri Bashir, President, ACI Asia-Pacific said, “We have made significant achievements last year. For example, ACI has been working very closely with industry partners, in particular ICAO and had successfully implemented APEX in Safety, a safety advancement initiative of ACI, in some of our airports. This complements the Asia-Pacific region which is now the safest in the world. We are also actively involved in many ICAO working groups so that our airports’ interests can be reflected. The ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Assembly, one of the most important events in our industry, is to review our achievements made and discuss how we can cope with the challenges ahead. I look forward to the many discussions with industry experts here in Singapore. Another highlight of the conference is the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards Ceremony which will take place at the Gala Dinner of the conference on May 24, 2012 at Universal Studios Singapore.
