Bali expects to attract five million foreign visitors in 2015

With the recent surge in visitors into Bali over the last few years, Governor Made Mangku Pastika has optimistically aimed to welcome five million foreign visitors in 2015.

Further still the Governor has said he aims to welcome a total of 15 million foreign and domestic tourists to the country in 2015, the Jakarta Post reported.

“With the stable and conducive political security and social situation, as well as the momentum from the 2013 Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, I’m sure that in 2015 we will be able to welcome five million foreign visitors and ten million domestic visitors,” the Governor said.

The Governor added that his target is not a ‘make believe one’ adding that many international events including the upcoming Miss World Beauty pageant and APEC meeting will showcase the country’s good image globally.

For the first five months of 2012, Bali Tourism has recorded 1,131,462 foreign visitors on the Island, up 9.7 percent year on year.

In 2011, Bali welcomed 2.75 million foreign tourists and 5.67 million domestic tourists.

Bali Tourism Agency has also revealed that Australians are among the highest number of visitors to Bali followed by the Chinese.
