Welcoming New Leadership at Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur

Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur is pleased to announce the appointment of Peter D.Gibbons as General Manager.

After spearheading the grand opening and managing Millennium Resort Patong, Phuket in Thailand, Millennium and Copthorne International Limited (MCIL)’s first resort in Asia, for more than four years, Mr. Gibbons will be taking the helm at our flagship-brand, 5-star Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur effective 1 August 2012.

Mr. Gibbons brings with him a wealth of experience honed from his 30 years of experience as Managing Director, General Manager and senior Food and Beverage positions at several international luxury hotels around the globe, including Europe, West Indies, Dubai, Egypt, China, Thailand and Malaysia. With vast knowledge and industry expertise, he will contribute significantly to the growth of Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur Hotel, conveniently located along the shopping and entertainment belt on Jalan Bukit Bintang- right next to KL’s latest shopping icon, Pavilion Kuala Lumpur!

Mr. Gibbons, a Malaysian Permanent Resident, whom hails from England, graduated from both Westminster College London and Dorset University. He was also awarded the Grand Metropolitan Hotel (Intercontinental Hotel’s) Travel Scholarship Award. He attended the General Managers Programme at Cornell University in 1994.

During Mr. Gibbon’s previous projects in Malaysia, he was the Chairman of Penang International Hotels Association (PIHA) from 1998 to 2000 and was subsequently nominated to be the Chairman of the Malaysia Association of Hotels (Penang Chapter) from 2001 to 2003. Mr. Gibbons contributed to the Malaysian Tourism actively and served as the Committee Member (Tourism) of the Malaysia International Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MICCI) from 1999 to 2003. He was also awarded the Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (PJK) by the Governor of Penang in July 2000 for his contribution to the tourism industry in Penang.

Mr Gibbons commented, “I am delighted to be returning to Kuala Lumpur especially with MCIL and to be given this wonderful opportunity and responsibility to lead what is already an iconic landmark in Kuala Lumpur – fabulously located with lots of plans in the pipeline from even greater improvements.”
