Amadeus helps Asia Pacific travel agencies get their piece of the online pie

  Amadeus educates travel agencies on how to navigate the complex internet landscape and take their business online with Amadeus E-commerce Seminars

Amadeus, a leading travel technology partner and transaction processor for the global travel and tourism industry, today launches a new initiative to help traditional ‘brick and mortar’ travel agencies move their business online and leverage growing traveller demand.

The online travel market in Asia Pacific has seen expansive growth, and the upward trajectory is expected to continue. PhoCusWright has projected that the overall Asia Pacific travel market will reach US$357 billion by 2013, a 64% increase over 2009, with online gross bookings growing twice as fast as the total travel market to comprise 25% of the total market.

David Brett, President, Amadeus Asia Pacific said that the Asia Pacific travel industry is on the cusp of realising the potential offered by E-commerce platforms.

“E-commerce technology is playing an increasingly important role in our customers’ business operations. With our extensive customer portfolio of online customers, including MakeMyTrip, Expedia and Cleartip, travel agencies can draw on our local knowledge and industry expertise to reap the rewards of the E-commerce space,” said Brett.

The Amadeus E-commerce Seminars will educate travel agencies on the opportunities attached to online business and explain how to leverage this platform to drive revenue and expand their own businesses. The seminars will demonstrate Amadeus solutions such as Amadeus Agency Internet Engine (AAIE), Amadeus Mobile Traveller and Amadeus e-Power, which remove the complexity around making travel arrangements online, and while on the move.

The Amadeus E-commerce seminars will be held for free in the Philippines, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Taiwan from now until December with more markets in Asia Pacific to follow.
