A seven-strong delegation from Abu Dhabi’s tourism industry is heading to Asia next week looking to build on rising hotel guest figures from the region at ITB Asia – the region’s leading travel market – which runs from three days in Singapore from October 17.
The delegation, led by Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi), includes hotels, resorts and a destination company. They will share a pavilion at the show and will be looking to leverage rising interest in Abu Dhabi from the Asian market.
“Asia is now our top performing region in terms of hotel guests,” explained Mubarak Al Nuaimi, International Promotions Manager, TCA Abu Dhabi. “Our destination has moved on significantly since we took part in the show last year and we are convince that our new product offering, plus the soon-to-open power draw of Yas Waterworld, will heighten interest further and we will be looking to capitalise on this.”
Asia now accounts for a third of Abu Dhabi’s international hotel guests. “The strongest growth is coming from this region,” said Al Nuaimi. “Key players from the travel industry from Japan, Korea and China feature among ITB Asia’s visitor profile and these will be firmly in our sights.”
Abu Dhabi’s ITB Asia delegation includes: the five-star Grand Millenium Al Wahda Hotel; the four-star Mafraq Hotel; the UAE capital’s Cristal Hotels & Resorts which operates properties in the emirate; the five-star InterContinental Hotel Abu Dhabi which is completing major upgrades including a redeveloped beachfront, two new swimming pools and additions to its extensive f&b portfolio; The Vision Destination Management and Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas UAE which operates three resorts in Abu Dhabi emirate including the recently-opened Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa.
