The award-winning AYANA Resort and Spa Bali is preparing for the next phase of its evolution with the upcoming opening of sister hotel RIMBA Jimbaran Bali, offering another unique guest experience within the world-class cliff-top property.
Under the same management of Capella Hotel Group, RIMBA Jimbaran Bali will open in September 2013 with 297 rooms and suites to expand on AYANA’s 368 rooms and villas. The 8 hectare resort is located within AYANA’s 77-hectare grounds overlooking Jimbaran Bay, just 12 kilometers from Bali’s airport, making it the perfect sanctuary for a relaxing break and a base from which to explore Bali and nearby attractions.
Capella Hotel Group chairman Horst Schulze said the imminent opening of RIMBA underscores the owner’s continued investment in the property and commitment to the highest standards of quality and service. “I have opened hundreds of hotels around the world, I’ve worked for the biggest names in the industry over a career of more than 50 years, so I’ve seen a lot of hotels, visited a lot of hotels, and I know how to spot a good hotel,” said Mr Schulze. “This is not just a good hotel, this is truly a world-class hotel and right at the very top when we talk about the best resorts in the world.
“This resort has continued to evolve and get even better every year. The owner is truly committed to understanding guests’ needs and catering for their expressed and unexpressed wishes, and he continues to invest to ensure AYANA remains world-class. The next stage in this evolution is the opening of this new hotel, RIMBA, which has its own story and unique experiences to offer guests,” Mr Schulze added.
RIMBA’s name, which is Indonesian for ‘forest’, reflects its setting and sustainable design. A central feature of the innovative design is the one hectare of multi-tiered swimming pools and expansive tree plantations, tropical flowers and organic fruit and vegetable gardens. The landscaping by St Legere is cleverly contoured to create different levels and slopes, so it is like entering a national park with an undulating tree-lined entrance and scenic trails. The resort’s elevated hill-side location affords both sunrise and sunset views, looking out over the Uluwatu Hills to the south-east, and to the Indian Ocean fronting AYANA’s 1.3 kilometer coastline to the south-west.
The 297 well-appointed guest rooms and suites are contemporary, elegant and chic, with an emphasis on sustainable design. The commitment to sustainability is evident throughout the hotel in elements such as:
- Rainwater harvesting and water recycling plant;
- Resort Lobby made of recycled wood from three old fishing boats personally sourced by RIMBA’s engineers in Sulawesi, and driftwood which they gathered by hand along a one-mile stretch of beach;
- Natural light maximized in rooms and public spaces, in features such as a sky-light running from the Lobby to To’ge restaurant and bakery on the ground floor;
- Walls made from handmade bricks;
- Furniture made from recycled packing crates and other materials;
- UNIQUE roof-top bar featuring recycled glass bottles;
- On-site greenhouse and organic fruit garden;
- Eco amenities in all guest rooms, such as bathroom amenities made of recycled glass, and beach bags made of recycled materials.
Guests of both AYANA and RIMBA will experience seamless service as they enjoy the best of both worlds: RIMBA with its forest ambience and AYANA’s unrivaled ocean-front setting. With its unique facilities and design, RIMBA complements AYANA, providing guests with two unique hotels to explore and two very different experiences to enjoy. Linked to AYANA by scenic jogging trails and shuttle bus service, its strategic location also enables RIMBA to support accommodation needs and additional function and meeting space for corporate and wedding events held at AYANA.
RIMBA’s swimming pools include a Main Pool with swim-up pool bar and a Children’s Pool adjacent to the Kids Club. On-site restaurants and bars include Indonesia’s largest Chinese restaurant, Ah-Yat Abalone, which has over 25 restaurants Asia-wide and will open its first Bali outlet at RIMBA; ultra-glam roof-top bar UNIQUE designed around a swimming pool; all-day cuisine and gourmet Bakery at To’ge; and swim-up pool bar. RIMBA will also feature a state-of-the-art Cooking School designed by the hotel’s culinary professionals. Neighboring AYANA’s world-class dining venues offer a culinary journey of Italian, French and Japanese to Indonesian, Thai and fresh seafood on the sand. RIMBA guests, as well as AYANA guests, will enjoy Priority Access to Rock Bar, Bali’s most iconic sunset destination with unrivaled views from its location on natural rock 14 meters above the Indian Ocean.
The signature wellbeing rituals of Thermes Marins Spa may be enjoyed either at RIMBA’s six roof-top treatment rooms, or at the 36 treatment rooms at the main Spa at AYANA, which also features the world’s largest Aquatonic Seawater Therapy Pool and Spa on the Rocks treatment villas.
Complimentary WiFi will be provided throughout RIMBA, and room charges will be accepted at all RIMBA and AYANA facilities for guests of both hotels, while a complimentary shuttle bus will operate all day between RIMBA Lobby, AYANA Main Lobby, Spa, Villa Lobby and the private white-sand Kubu Beach.
